Believe it or not, Micosoft offers free websites and free domain names. These sites are designed for business use, but can also be used for personal sites.

Internet Marketing is very complex and there a a lot of things you can do to increase sales. Here are some of the things you have to look at:

- Copywriting on the webpage
- Website layout and navigation
- Links coming in
- Current marketing done for the website

why do I lose the format of my webpage when I design with dreamweaver?

I have downloaded a free webpage frame to build my personal site. I have started adding information but at a certain point the webpage I have created loses all formatting (colors, tables, shadows, borders, etc) and becomes like a white page with paragraphs with normal sort of word formating… what´s going on? I though I had done some mistake without noticing and started again from scratch… and now it has happened again!! help!

Make sure your style sheet (the file that has extension .CSS) is in the same place that is pointed in your pages between the tags after you save it in dreamweaver.

Can you only preview an animated gif in a web browser or web design software?

It doesnt open right in word or in the windows viewer. is there something wrong with the file or is this typical of gifs?

Right now in browsers only, Dream Weaver cs4 has live view so you can see it in action inside the web editor. Few companies offer it. If you have graphic design software like fireworks or imageready then you can hit play and watch it.

Word is not a web editor, use notepad.

I’m looking for a competitive web design company in Kelowna BC… I’m not too computer savvy. Any suggestions? Price is of course a factor, but not the determining one. Which company offers the best design solutions?

I shopped around a the Kelowna area a few months ago and ended up going with a company called bgio media (http://www.bgiomedia.com).. I got more than expected. Very, Very nice work at reasonable rates. Definitely worth checking out. There are a few other companies in the kelowna worth checkout and it’s probably worth your time to run your project by each one.

What page width is in fashion for contemporary web design right now?

Note: I am referring to FIXED width only. Not FLUID.

I appreciate that it’ll be too wide for older monitors but a lot of popular sites seem to be ignoring compliance. I’m not so much concerned with compliance as I am concerned with fashion. What width is in fashion for contemporary web design right now? Is a 1000 pixel fixed width alright for website?

I reckon building a website with 950 or 960 px page width. This way it shows up well with a 1024 px width screen. I appreciate many desktops and macs come with wider screens, but you also need to factor in the fact that net books and smart phones now have smaller screens. Fashion is about design, not width and you could easily add a theme or background in the margins of the main site that can make the site look very cool.

What is some graphic design software for beginners?

I currently use Print Shop but am looking for some better graphic design software. I am a fast learner but am still looking for something user friendly that I will be able to jump right into with little experience at first. I will be using the program for designing graphics for t-shirts. Any suggestions?

Learn how to solve problems with vector graphics before you start messing with bitmaps and photos. Adobe Illustrator is great for that. Especially if you’re going to be doing T-shirts – you’ll need to separate colors for silkscreens and things like that, so you’ll need to do vector graphics. Remember that serious graphic design is not about software, it’s about communicating ideas. Knowing how to draw helps immensely, so keep improving your drawing skills every day.

You cannot convert a swf flash design to html.
Rather, you can include your swf website into a blank html document using ‘embed’ command like,
